UPDATE: Polish, Czech gov’t ministers meet for talks in Prague

Polish and Czech government ministers met in Prague on Wednesday to discuss a range of bilateral and European issues amid Russia's ongoing war against Ukraine.

The two-way talks, known as intergovernmental consultations, were being led by Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk and the Czech Republic's Petr Fiala, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

Thank you for the invitation for me and the entire Polish government. This is our ninth intergovernmental consultation. Seldom do we have such good relations and mutual understanding of common interests and Europe's role with any partner.

Key topics included energy, transport and geopolitical challenges, in addition to flood protection, according to officials.

The two governments were also expected to talk about cross-border cooperation, migration and support for Ukraine against Russia's invasion, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

The previous Polish-Czech intergovernmental consultations were held in Katowice, southern Poland, in July last year.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II.

Wednesday is day 959 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
