While in Chisinau on Thursday, Andrzej Duda said Poland was ready to share its experience with Moldova in building "an honest state" and in "fighting corruption and creating state institutions," including those responsible for the economy.

"We want to help Moldova realize its European ambitions," Duda said, as quoted by Poland’s PAP news agency.

He added he was pleased that Moldova "wants to move towards full sovereignty, democracy and Europe."

"This plan is very important to us and that is why I am here today," he said during a joint news conference with his Moldovan counterpart Maia Sandu.

The Polish head of state is on Friday scheduled to take part in events to mark 30 years since Moldova regained independence from the Soviet Union.

Duda earlier this year declared that Poland would support Moldova in its efforts to preserve its territorial integrity.

During a visit to Warsaw in June, Moldova’s Sandu thanked Poland for its “consistent help” in advancing her country’s European aspirations and in helping Moldova access EU funds.
