Marcin Przydacz made the statement in an interview with the state-run TVP Info news channel on Sunday.
He said: “We’re really very close now. I believe that another sanctions package will be published within the next few days.”
Ban on Russian oil, more banks cut off from SWIFT
Przydacz’s words came after the Bloomberg news agency reported a day earlier that the EU was set to adopt a sixth round of punitive measures against Russia in the coming week.
According to Bloomberg, the proposed new sanctions include phasing out Russian oil by the end of 2022 and removing more Russian and Belarusian banks from the international SWIFT payment system.
The SWIFT ban would extend to Russia’s largest financial institution, Sberbank, Bloomberg said.

Meanwhile, Przydacz said Poland was pushing for four types of EU sanctions against the Kremlin: “cutting more banks off the SWIFT system; imposing an import ban on Russian oil; sanctioning more Russian oligarchs; and sanctioning the lobbying, legal and business circles that actively advocate for Russia" within the EU.
“These are the four priorities for us,” Przydacz told TVP Info, adding: “More countries are siding with us - I believe Germany will approve this sanctions package, as well.”
He said the new measures “will affect the European economy.”
“But I think it’s worth paying that price so that we may live in a safe world,” he added.
