Andrzej Duda began his tour of Africa with a visit to the largest country in terms of population - Nigeria. He met Muhammadu Buhari, the current president, in the capital Abuja.
Duda emphasized Poland's intention to increase energy supplies from Nigeria to Poland, as part of Poland's current strategy of energy diversification - reducing dependence on Russia.
Muhammadu Buhari has been president of Nigeria since 2015, being reelected for a second term in 2019. He had run the country in the period 1983-1985 as a military dictator.
