Scholz emphasized that he and Putin have "extreme differences of opinion", however, he only stated that "Ukraine cannot lose," and that "Ukraine must regain its security," somewhat less than other leaders including his own ministers who have said that "Ukraine must win."
Scholz called the invasion "an imperialist attack," but also admitted that Putin is "friendly" during their long conversations.
