Andrzej Duda issued the presidential decree on Friday, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

The president ordered that the 150-strong Polish military contingent in Egypt "be used to evacuate Polish citizens staying in the Gaza Strip," in order "to protect their lives and health."

Polish troops will transport evacuees from Egypt to Poland, between November 10 and 19, according to officials.

The evacuation will be carried out using two C-130 aircraft and one C-295 aircraft, the PAP news agency reported.

Earlier this week, the foreign ministry in Warsaw said that 29 Poles were staying in Gaza.

The evacuation is set to start when the Poles are allowed to cross from Gaza into Egypt, through the only open crossing in Rafah, officials said.

Meanwhile, the list of 594 people cleared by the Palestinian authorities to cross into Egypt on Friday, includes 31 Polish citizens, diplomatic sources told PAP.

The list also includes Americans, Germans, Canadians, Russians, Romanians and Brazilians, according to reports.

Two Poles based in Gaza, Osama Abu Zebida and Tarek Abu Saied, told public broadcaster Polish Radio's IAR news agency on Friday that Israel was bombing the territory "to kill as many civilians as possible."

They said Israeli artillery and fighter aircraft, including F-16 and F-35 fighter jets, were targeting "schools, hospitals, churches, houses and universities" in Gaza, while local residents lacked access to drinking water and electricity, among other necessities, IAR reported.

The war between Israel and Hamas broke out on October 7, when the Palestinian Islamist group launched attacks from the Gaza Strip, killing 1,400 people and kidnapping more than 200 as hostages, the British broadcaster BBC reported.

Israel has since been bombing Gaza, as well mounting a ground assault on the territory, killing more than 11,000 people, including more than 4,500 children, according to Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry.

On Friday, Israeli forces battled Hamas militants deep in the Gaza Strip, with footage showing tanks outside a children's hospital in Gaza City, the BBC reported.
