Sikorski announced his trip via social media on Friday morning.

Poland's top diplomat wrote he had arrived for his "first foreign visit" and attached a photo from Kyiv's Mykhailivska Square.

During his visit in the Ukrainian capital, Sikorski is expected to hold talks with Kuleba, according to officials.

The Polish foreign minister will also lay flowers at the Memory Wall of the Fallen Defenders of Ukraine and light candles at a memorial to the fallen participants of the 2013-14 pro-Western Revolution of Dignity, Poland's state news agency PAP reported.

After Sikorski's reappointment as Poland's top diplomat on December 13, the foreign ministry in Warsaw said Kyiv would be among his "first planned destinations," alongside Washington.

On December 12, the new Prime Minister Donald Tusk said in a policy speech to parliament that Poland would work to ensure that EU partners "unequivocally support Ukraine's defence against Russian aggression."

Another topic in Polish-Ukrainian relations is the protest by Polish hauliers, who are blocking checkpoints on the border with Ukraine, demanding that the European Union reinstate permits for Ukrainian transport companies entering the bloc, the interia.pl website reported.

Sikorski's talks in Kyiv will also "aim to find a solution to the problem of the excessive influx of agricultural products into the EU, and Poland in particular," Polish Agriculture Czesław Siekierski told the PAP news agency.

Friday is day 667 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.
