Poland's Rzeczpospolita has published a summary of Lithuania's annual security report about the principle dangers facing the Baltic republic. Among other conclusions, the report suggests that Russia has the capability of continuing fighting for at least another two years.
Why aren't sanctions working?
According to the report, high oil prices, gaps in the enforcement of sanctions as well as state investments have provided Russia with the resources to continue attacking Ukraine.
Other conclusions and warnings
The Lithuanian report also emphasized that Russia has been upgrading and strengthening its army, depleted by the first months of the invasion. Russia has also been developing its capabilities along the length of its border with NATO - Moscow has been learning from its errors, according to the report. Russia's military upgrade includes infrastructure in Belarus, Poland's neighbour.
China's ambiguous role
Despite China's calls for peace - today Foreign Minister Wang Yi has repeated calls for a negotiated settlement - the Lithuanian report states that China has increased exports of microchips to Russia and China's secret services have increased activity in Lithuania.
