Delivering the traditional "Urbi et Orbi" (to the city and the world) message from St. Peter’s Basilica, despite recent health challenges, the Pope emphasized the urgent need for peace and humanitarian aid in conflict zones.

"I appeal once again that access to humanitarian aid be ensured to Gaza, and call once more for the prompt release of the hostages seized on last October 7 and for an immediate ceasefire in the Strip," Francis declared, highlighting the devastating impact of the Gaza war on the most innocent.

"How much suffering we see in the eyes of children, the children have forgotten to smile in those war zones. With their eyes, children ask us: Why? Why all this death? Why all this destruction? War is always an absurdity and a defeat," he lamented.

The Pope's Easter message, traditionally a reflection on global issues, also shed light on various international conflicts, including the situations in Ukraine, Syria, Lebanon, and beyond. Furthermore, he reiterated his commitment to facilitating dialogue and resolution, mentioning his request for an "a general exchange of all prisoners between Russia and Ukraine."

Francis also voiced his opposition to human trafficking and extended his prayers to those afflicted by violence, poverty, terrorism, and climate change, seeking a "path of hope" for all suffering worldwide.
