As we have reported earlier, the war in Ukraine is closely linked to the US domestic political scene with Biden being a strong supporter of Ukraine and Trump expressing scepticism about continued US support and even scepticism about NATO in general.

So there is hope for Ukraine in recent polling as the tide seems to be turning from a narrow lead for Trump to a narrow lead for Biden, reflected in the Five Thirty Eight portal which gathers and analyses large numbers of surveys.

The latest poll, carried out by Ipsos for Reuters, gives Biden a 4 point lead - 41% to 37%.

The significance of this potential shift in American political sentiment for Europe is reflected in its being widely reported, for example by the Polish Press Agency (PAP).
