Defence Minister Kajsa Ollongren informed parliament that the required permits for the jet deliveries have been secured, ahead of the government transition following a prolonged coalition-building process since last year's election.
Ollongren did not disclose the number of jets in the initial delivery or the exact timeline for their arrival in Ukraine due to security considerations.
The Netherlands has played a key role in forming an international coalition to supply Ukraine with F-16s, aiming to bolster its air defenses against Russia.
Previously, the Dutch government sent F-16s to a training facility in Romania, where Ukrainian pilots and ground crew are learning to operate and maintain the aircraft.
In April, Ollongren anticipated that deliveries from Denmark, the Netherlands, and the United States would begin within months.
