The visit, as stated in an official North Korean communiqué, is expected to "deepen bilateral relations on all fronts to open a new era in relations."

Upon arrival in Pyongyang, Ryzhenkov highlighted that strengthening cooperation with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is a key foreign policy goal for Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

Both North Korea and Belarus have maintained close ties with Moscow in recent years, contributing to their international isolation.

Both nations face accusations of human rights violations against their citizens. North Korea has also been accused of supplying Russia with ammunition and missiles for the conflict in Ukraine.

In June, Russian strongman Vladimir Putin made his first visit to North Korea in 24 years, signing a strategic treaty that includes a mutual assistance commitment in the event of an attack.
