Russian authorities are evacuating parts of the southwestern Belgorod region that borders Ukraine, regional Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on Telegram on August 12.

The head of the Belgorod region's administration voiced concern about recent reports from the Russian-Ukrainian border, noting that Ukrainian forces have been particularly active and might be preparing to open a new front.

Over the past week, Ukrainian troops have launched an offensive in the adjacent Kursk region, where they have reportedly seized parts of several villages, according to the Informational Radio Agency (IAR).
