During a meeting in New York, UNOPS Executive Director Jorge Morrisa da Silva expressed satisfaction with the completion of the ratification process concerning an agreement signed exactly one year ago on September 21, 2023.

UNOPS is an operational arm of the United Nations focused on providing project management and procurement services to various UN agencies, governments, and other partners.

Polish UNOPS officials will prioritize promoting sustainable development and assisting in Ukraine's reconstruction while increasing the participation of Polish companies in UN initiatives. They will oversee structural programs, financial management, and human resources.

UNOPS will support Ukraine's recovery efforts

As confirmed by the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the institution will initially focus on programs for Ukraine's reconstruction, aiming to strengthen the presence of Polish firms in United Nations projects.

The responsibilities of the UNOPS office in Warsaw will involve facilitating the participation of the Polish private sector in UN initiatives and ensuring effective engagement in public procurement processes.

New office boosts Polish involvement in UN projects

Working together with the Polish Government, UNOPS aims to utilize Polish expertise, especially in areas such as green transformation, energy infrastructure, transportation, and water management.

Looking ahead, UNOPS plans to hire approximately one hundred employees, mainly from Poland, thus increasing opportunities for Polish nationals within international organizations.
