In recent days, the Polish-American actress known for the musical Mamma Mia and the record-breaking series The Good Wife has been urging the American Polish community to vote for the Democratic candidate in the presidential election.

During a rally organized by Polish Americans for Harris in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, in the northeastern region of the United States, Christine Baranski referenced her family's history and their civic engagement.

Her ancestors were part of the Polish community in Buffalo, New York, which is about 20 miles south of the Canadian border and part of the Buffalo-Niagara Falls metropolitan area.

Christine Baranski emphasized that her father and two uncles fought in World War II and would be deeply troubled by the idea that a man running for president is forming a close relationship with a Russian dictator instead of supporting NATO allies, who have historically defended Eastern Europe.

She believes that Donald Trump’s reelection could pose a serious threat not only to Poland but to the entire region, and it might also embolden various dictators around the world to engage in undemocratic behavior.

Polonia almost always chooses the candidate who ends up winning

“Polonia almost always chooses the candidate who ends up winning,” noted Łukasz Lipiński, the organizer of the Democrats' campaign among Polish Americans, in an interview with the Polish state news agency PAP.

At his initiative, Democrats in Pennsylvania - a state considered crucial for determining the outcome of the upcoming presidential election in November - are encouraging voting particularly in areas where Polish Americans form the largest demographic group, including the mining and industrial county of Luzerne and nearby Scranton, the hometown of President Joe Biden.

Marcin Wrona, a Polish correspondent for TVN24, spoke with Christine Baranski, who joined the bus tour of Democrats (Polish-Americans for Harris-Walts) traveling through Pennsylvania along with former Congressman Tom Malinowski.

Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, where Christine Baranski spoke about encouraging voter participation while going door-to-door, has a significant Polish-American community. Although specific numbers can vary, it is estimated that around twenty percent of the city's population identifies as Polish or of Polish descent.
