In her view, conditions on the Polish-Belarusian border have deteriorated; not only are unconstitutional and internationally condemned "pushbacks" still being used, but new regulations, like a law permitting the use of firearms at the border, are now being legalized, Holland stated on the TVN24 news channel.
Professor Paweł Kowal, the Polish government’s envoy for Ukraine’s reconstruction and head of the parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee, shared behind-the-scenes footage of the interview on social media.
Kowal, who joined Holland in the discussion, explained that the new government’s migration strategy includes more robust border security measures and allows for the temporary suspension of asylum applications if border pressure intensifies.
Holland noted, however, that migrants in this region are present regardless of actions by Putin and Lukashenko, although the war in Syria has added to their numbers.
She observed that the new migration policy under Tusk’s administration is the only notable shift from the previous conservative government’s approach, which her internationally recognized film The Green Border strongly criticizes.
