„Increased military co-operation to tackle the growing threats facing Europe will be at the heart of a new defence and security agreement launched by the UK and Poland today,” announced the official British government website.
PM Keir Starmer is going to meet Polish PM Donald Tusk „to kickstart new defence and security negotiations to tackle Putin’s aggression, smash the criminal people smuggling gangs and secure our energy supplies,” explained in a statement.
UK and Poland strengthen collaboration on illegal migration and boost investment with InPost deal
The UK and Poland also plan to intensify their collaboration to combat illegal migration under the treaty. Poland, facing a surge in migrant crossings from Belarus due to gang activities supported by Belarusian and Russian authorities, plays a key role in Europe's fight against organized immigration crime.
The British also highlight that, to coincide with PM Starmer's visit, “Polish company InPost confirms £600 million UK investment – the latest in a series of billions of pounds of job-boosting investments across the UK this week alone.”
The transaction, led by a leader in logistics solutions for European e-commerce, which operates the largest parcel locker network in the UK, is set to be completed by 2029 to expand their operations in the UK, supporting up to 12,000 new jobs.
After his visit to Ukraine on Thursday, Keir Starmer is scheduled to meet with Polish President Andrzej Duda on Friday afternoon, followed by a meeting with Poland’s Prime Minister, Donald Tusk.
The head of the Polish government is set to present the priorities of Poland's EU Council presidency, themed "Security, Europe!", and discuss bilateral relations, migration, international security, defense cooperation, and continued support for Ukraine.
