The head of the Lithuanian government stressed that the excellent relations between Vilnius and Warsaw, the strategic partnership, and interests that overlap on key issues are crucial for creating a safe, resilient, and economically dynamic region.
"Russia remains a long-term military threat. This is evidenced by the reconstruction of potential in Ukraine, the orientation of the country's economy towards military needs and aggressive hybrid actions," we read in a Lithuanian statement issued after the prime ministers' meeting.
"Therefore, every effort must be made to strengthen defense not only at the regional level but also at the European Union level," Lithuania’s Gintautas Paluckas emphasized.
Polish PM Donald Tusk, together with his Lithuanian counterpart, highlighted the importance of the fast and most efficient implementation of infrastructure projects such as the construction of the Rail Baltica railway or the Harmony Link power connection.
The Prime Ministers also discussed Poland's EU presidency and support for Ukraine over the phone. Gintautas Paluckas stressed that Poland could count on Lithuania's support in achieving the set goals.
