The tracked amphibious vehicles will be provided to the Institute of Geophysics at the Polish Academy of Sciences, supporting Poland’s northernmost year-round research facility.

Polish Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz announced that he has tasked military officials with acquiring new amphibious transporters for both military and non-military operations.

As he added, this decision allows for a positive response to the request from the Polish Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Geophysics, which has been conducting research in Spitsbergen for decades through the Polish Polar Station, supporting scientists from Poland and allied countries.

The defense ministry noted that these transporters were previously used in flood response operations, including during Operation FENIKS.

Their key advantages include a simple design, lack of electronics, and a 350-horsepower engine, allowing them to operate in extreme conditions.

The transporters accommodate a two-person crew and can carry five tons on land and ten tons in water.
