Polish FM Sikorski visits Romania

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski visited Romania on Thursday for talks with his Romanian counterpart, Emil Hurezeanu, and Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu.

During his visit, Sikorski focused on international security, transatlantic relations, and Poland’s EU presidency priorities, including issues related to Ukraine’s EU expansion, the Western Balkans, and Moldova.

The head of Polish diplomacy also addressed cooperation on countering disinformation, illegal migration, and hybrid threats, according to the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Strengthening international security and transatlantic relations

FM Sikorski emphasized that Polish-Romanian relations are based on shared positions regarding key security challenges and pro-democratic values.

Polish investments and trilateral cooperation with Romania and Turkey

The visit highlighted Poland’s ongoing investments in Romania, especially in banking and mobile payments, with Romania planning to adopt the Polish Blik payment system.

Additionally, Sikorski discussed the Poland-Turkey-Romania trilateral format, particularly regarding Black Sea security.
