The meeting, organised by Britain, was led by UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, with Sikorski representing Poland, the ministry said.

Participants discussed ways to restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. They agreed on the need to pursue a diplomatic and political solution to the crisis, it added.

Poland also stressed that the international community should not lose sight of Ukraine’s defence against Russia’s unprovoked aggression amid the Middle East conflict, according to the ministry.

"Given that Moscow is benefitting from destabilisation in the Gulf region, the pressure on the Kremlin must be increased, including through ever harsher sanctions," the statement said.

"Poland consistently emphasizes the need for a peaceful resolution to the conflict in the Middle East, advocating dialogue and the use of diplomatic tools," the ministry said in a post on X.

In early March, Warsaw condemned attempts to widen the conflict in the Middle East, urging all sides to exercise maximum restraint and respect international law.
