According to a US State Department statement issued on Monday, the discussions will address geopolitical crises affecting the global economy, including threats to freedom of navigation, energy and food security, and supply chains.

"Under President Trump’s leadership, the United States is returning the G20 to its core economic mission of driving growth, strengthening economic security, and delivering results for the American people," the statement said.

The meeting is intended to lay the groundwork for the upcoming G20 leaders’ summit, which will include US President Donald Trump, and for the broader economic agenda to be discussed by leaders.

Poland is taking part in this year’s G20 activities as a full member, following a special invitation from the United States.

The G20 leaders’ summit is scheduled for December 14-15 in Florida. President Karol Nawrocki will represent Poland.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on Friday that he had been invited by British Prime Minister Andy Burnham to next year’s G20 summit.

Established in 1999, the G20 brings together 19 major economies, the European Union and the African Union. Its members account for around 85 percent of global GDP and more than 75 percent of world trade.
