Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and US Vice President Mike Pence signed the joint declaration in Warsaw.

The signing came amid growing concerns about Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei and network security policies.

“Protecting these next-generation communications networks from disruption or manipulation and ensuring the privacy and individual liberties of the citizens of the United States, Poland, and other countries is of vital importance,” the declaration said.

It added that “all countries must ensure only trusted and reliable suppliers participate in networks.”

Poland’s President Andrzej Duda said on Monday that the country’s counterintelligence services had detected potential Chinese espionage activities.

America's Pence was in Warsaw to fill in for President Donald Trump, who last week cancelled his trip to Poland to monitor Hurricane Dorian.
