Poland’s Poznań to host forward HQ of US Army V Corps

The western Polish city of Poznań will be the location of a forward command post of the US Army Fifth Corps headquarters, military officials announced on Wednesday.

US troops will arrive in the city in October, the US embassy in Warsaw said in a Twitter post.

“The primary mission of the new forward headquarters will be to conduct operational planning, mission command and oversight of the rotational forces in Europe,” the U.S. Army in Europe said in a statement.

The new forward command post "will also provide additional capability to support allies and partners in the region,” the statement added.
