Piotr Müller made the comment after European Union leaders on Thursday expressed readiness to slap further penalties on Russia for its invasion of Ukraine.
In an interview with public broadcaster Polish Radio, Müller said that the declaration was “significant” but had to be "translated into concrete action."
Müller called for “a restriction or a ban on the import of oil, gas and coal from Russia, closure of ports to Russian trade and removal of more Russian banks from the global SWIFT financial messaging system.”
He warned that otherwise “Vladimir Putin and the Russian crime machine might rebuild itself again and continue its attacks.”
‘Readiness to adopt additional measures’
Meanwhile, EU leaders meeting in Brussels, Belgium were expected to hold more talks about the impact of the war in Ukraine on the second day of their summit in Brussels, Belgium.
