Addressing the UN Security Council at the weekend, Krzysztof Szczerski said: "We strongly believe that the lives of civilians on both sides must be protected in accordance with international law and international humanitarian law."
The Polish UN ambassador added: "The nearly complete blockade of the Gaza Strip, which hinders the imports of food, water, medicine and electricity, must end immediately."
Szczerski told the UN Security Council that "the strategy of collective punishment that puts civilians at risk is a wrong one."
He also said that Poland opposed a key ceasefire resolution proposed by Arab states because it failed to condemn Hamas attacks.
