This comes in the wake of an incident where a Russian missile trespassed into Polish airspace, an event that led to a diplomatic summons the ambassador did not heed.

The breach of airspace, reported by the Polish Armed Forces on March 24, involved a cruise missile launched by Russia's long-range aviation, which violated Polish territory for 39 seconds.

The incident prompted the Polish Foreign Ministry to summon Ambassador Sergei Andreyev, who notably failed to respond to the summons, raising questions about diplomatic decorum and the severity of the airspace violation.

On March 27, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski told reporters that by not heeding the summons, "Andreyev gave perfect evidence of his culture and professionalism."

"From what I hear he has already left our territory on his own," he said, and added that he had not been expelled.

Despite the gravity of the incident, 14.7% of respondents of the poll, conducted by SW Research for the Rzeczpospolita daily, opposed the expulsion, with 26.2% undecided.
