Top Polish lawmaker heads to US for NATO parliamentary summit

Poland's lower-house Speaker Szymon Hołownia is on his way to the United States for a visit that will include attending a summit of NATO parliamentary leaders in Washington, D.C.

During his visit, Hołownia is scheduled to meet with key figures, including Tom Sullivan, Counselor of the US Department of State, Mike Turner, Chairman of the US Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and representatives from the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.

The gathering will also feature discussions among parliamentary leaders from NATO's Eastern Flank countries, including Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, and Ukraine.

The focus will be on regional security, cybersecurity issues and hybrid warfare threats.

Speaker of the Sejm Hołownia's visit to Washington will span July 8-9, preceding the NATO summit taking place from July 9-11.

During this time, NATO allies will deliberate on responses to the evolving geopolitical landscape, continued support for Ukraine, and strategies to counter the imperial ambitions of the Russian Federation.

The Polish delegation at the NATO summit will be led by President Andrzej Duda, accompanied by Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski and Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
