The manner in which the attack on Donald Trump during a rally in Pennsylvania occurred could be significant for the protection of politicians in Poland.
Tomasz Siemoniak assured that thoroughly analyzing the course of these dramatic events is also in the interest of the services under his authority. However, the politician did not confirm whether Polish services have raised the state of readiness following the attack on the former U.S. President, as well as similar incidents in Slovakia (targeting Robert Fico) and Denmark (targeting Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen).
It is also uncertain whether there are plans to increase financial resources allocated for the protection of Polish politicians. "Such matters are not discussed publicly. All appropriate actions of protective services are confidential and will always be of interest to adversaries," stated Siemoniak.
The Minister of Interior and Administration also expressed his personal opinion on how the failed attack on Trump might impact the outcome of the upcoming U.S. presidential election, scheduled for a few months from now.
"I watch the United States and its elections with the utmost attention. They are our most important allies, guaranteeing the security of Poland and democratic Europe. Everything that happens there is of immense importance to us. There are American soldiers, there is aid and support for Ukraine, so in this dimension, the U.S. elections are of great significance, although they are, of course, an internal matter of the United States," explained Siemoniak.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump was injured in the ear during a Pennsylvania campaign rally on Saturday, where a 20-year-old attacker named Thomas Matthew Crooks caused one death and two serious injuries before being killed himself, according to the FBI.
