Russia has declared a nationwide state of emergency following Ukraine's ongoing attack on the Russian Kursk Region. This is the first time Russian officials have "admitted" to Russian society that they are in some kind of military trouble.
General Apti Alaudinov, commander of Chechnya’s Akhmat special forces, part of the Russian forces, said:
Yes, our men have died, that’s a fact. The enemy has entered several settlements.
Russian sources, cited by Poland's Rzeczpospolita, have stated that 1000 Ukrainian soldiers entered Russia as part of the incursion into Kursk. However, Russia has also claimed almost 1000 Ukrainian deaths in Kursk - which would amount to the practical elimination of the threat.
