Poland finalizes deal for 48 M903 launchers, advancing Wisła program

In Sochaczew, a contract was finalized for the production of 48 M903 missile launchers, marking the start of the second phase of the Wisła program and setting the stage for additional contracts with Polish industry to supply further components between 2027 and 2029.

The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Deputy Minister Paweł Bejda, and Mark Brzezinski, the U.S. Ambassador to Poland.

Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized on social media, "We have signed a very important contract for M903 missile launchers for the Patriot system. These will be entirely produced in Poland, at Huta Stalowa Wola (HSW). This is a massive investment."

The Polish Minister of National Defense further stated, "Air defense is of fundamental importance, as we have learned from the experience of the war in Ukraine. Today's event is unprecedented in scale, taking place on Polish soil, involving Polish companies, utilizing American technology, and in collaboration with American firms and the U.S. government."

Ambassador Mark Brzezinski highlighted that the defense collaboration between the U.S. and Poland enhances the security and strength of both nations and expressed pride in the significant advancement of their defense relations.

American tech, Polish production: M903 launchers

The PGZ-WISŁA consortium has produced various PATRIOT system components, including technical support containers, transport and loading vehicles, launcher parts, missile components, and radar systems.

For this contract, Huta Stalowa Wola (HSW) depends on key subcontractors, such as Zakłady Mechaniczne Tarnów for actuators and Wojskowe Zakłady Elektroniczne for the Data Link Terminal Module. 

The M903 air defense launchers are missile systems designed to protect against airborne threats, utilizing missiles to engage and destroy aerial targets.
