Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski expressed belief that during Poland's presidency in the EU Council, "much will be achieved in terms of the accession process of our partners."

He added that Poland expects the opening of the "fundamental issues" cluster for Ukraine and Moldova during its presidency.

The head of Polish diplomacy emphasized that EU enlargement policy is "an extremely important tool for consolidating and promoting both peace and the rule of law in Europe."

Poland's top diplomat also stressed that aligning member states' policies with EU values is "absolutely crucial," and that EU membership is a choice that requires adherence to shared values.

EU membership is not an obligation but a free choice made by a country and its citizens, said Poland's top diplomat during a press conference with EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos.

Radosław Sikorski assured that Poland will support the EU's efforts to accelerate the accession process, while highlighting the challenges posed by the political crisis in Georgia, where the government has frozen its EU accession negotiations.
