Polish detective Krzysztof Rutkowski witnesses earthquake devastation in Bangkok

At the time of the tremors, Rutkowski was riding in a limousine through the capital of Thailand. In an interview with the Polish news station Polsat News, the detective described scenes of panic that he observed firsthand.

Rutkowski describes the situation in Bangkok during the earthquake

According to him, people were running out of hotels in swimsuits and bathrobes. When he stopped near one of the hotels, he experienced the tremors and saw water spilling out of the rooftop pool.

Rutkowski noted that the hotel staff acted swiftly, conducting evacuations, and that Thai emergency services were well-prepared for such a situation. Due to the risk of further aftershocks, he was transported to a safe hotel on the outskirts of the city.

In his account, which he shared via his Instagram profile, the detective emphasized that there was "general panic" on the streets, both among tourists and locals.

Thailand airports resume operations after earthquake

The earthquake destroyed, among other things, one of the skyscrapers under construction in Bangkok. A state of disaster was declared in the city, and the death toll continues to rise, with more than a hundred people still missing.

IAR, the news agency of Poland's national broadcaster Polish Radio, reports that airports in Thailand, including those in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket, are now operating normally after passing security checks and are able to accept and process passengers.

Earlier, the Polish Embassy in Thailand announced that the Airport Link from Suvarnabhumi Airport was temporarily suspended.

Over 1,000 killed in 7.7 magnitude earthquake affecting Myanmar and Thailand

The latest report indicates that the death toll from yesterday's earthquake, with its epicenter in Myanmar, has exceeded a thousand, with over 2,300 people injured.

The tremors had a magnitude of 7.7 and caused widespread destruction in much of the country. The earthquake's epicenter was located at a depth of 10 kilometers. Myanmar's ruling junta has declared a state of emergency in six regions.

In addition to Myanmar and Thailand, the earthquake was also felt in China, India, Cambodia, and Bangladesh.
