The survey, entitled “Cyber Security Barometer,” was carried out by the global consultancy KPMG, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
Cyber attacks on the rise
In the past year, 69 percent of Poland’s businesses were the subject of at least one cyber attack, the report found.
This is a five percentage point increase compared to 2020, confirming that cyber security threats are on the rise, KPMG said.
Email scams, malware, foreign state-sponsored hacking
According to respondents, a key cyber threat is data theft, when passwords and login data are stolen through email and text-message scams.
The second-biggest cyber danger are data leaks caused by malicious software, the survey found.
Meanwhile, Polish firms are also increasingly worried about potential attacks from hacker groups supported by foreign countries, according to the poll.
Polish companies raise cyber security spending
Reflecting these concerns, “companies are stepping up investment in protection mechanisms, security monitoring and responses to cyber attacks, to minimise their impact,” said Michał Kurek, a cyber security expert at KPMG.
The “Cyber Security Barometer” survey was conducted between January and February this year on a sample of 100 small, mid-size and large Polish companies with average annual revenue of at least PLN 51 million (EUR 11 million).
