Mateusz Morawiecki made the declaration at a news conference on Tuesday, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
The PM said the government would unveil a support package for the energy-intensive sector amid rising energy prices.
“It won’t be targeted only at the biggest companies, or the state-owned companies, but also at private companies,” he said.
“We want to provide support for up to 1,000 firms, certainly 800-900, those that are most heavily dependent on energy costs, on gas costs,” Morawiecki stated.
He cited fertiliser makers as “a prime example” of an industry affected by spiralling prices of gas amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
“Today, we are dealing with enormous inflation caused by the prices of raw materials and the war in Ukraine, so we have very high prices as a result of putinflation,” the PM said.
Piotr Müller, the spokesman for the Polish government, said on Monday that “a package of support measures for the energy-intensive sector and for individual customers” would be unveiled this week, the PAP news agency reported.
Wednesday is day 203 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
