Polish retail sales 0.7% up y/y in October: stats office

Retail sales in Poland went up by 0.7 percent in October at constant prices compared with the same month a year earlier, the country’s statistics office reported on Wednesday.

Sales of clothing and shoes increased 14.3 percent last month in year-on-year terms, and those of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics rose by 8.4 percent, the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.

Meanwhile, sales of furniture, household appliances and consumer electronics went up by 5 percent, and those of motor vehicles decreased 5.5 percent, according to Statistics Poland.

In terms of current prices, retail sales last month were 18.3 percent higher than in October 2021, Statistics Poland said.

In month-on-month terms, retail sales in October were 0.3 percent higher than in September, the statistics office also reported.
