Polish GDP grew 4.9% in 2022: stats office

The Polish economy grew 4.9 percent last year, the country’s statistics office has said in a preliminary estimate.

The reading was 0.1 percentage point higher than expected by analysts, Poland's PAP news agency reported.

In 2021, Poland’s gross domestic product expanded by 6.8 percent, according to the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency.

Poland’s central bank in November predicted that the country's GDP would grow 0.7 percent in 2023.

A Polish deputy finance minister has said that 2023 "will be a difficult year" for the country’s public finances, but added that “there are grounds for cautious optimism.”
