The overarching objective of the Polish presidency is to empower consumers by promoting responsible choices, the watchdog announced.

Among the topics that will be explored during the chairmanship are dark patterns, scams, artificial intelligence, the future of finance, as well as influencer and content marketing, it added.

UOKiK stressed these subjects hold significant importance within the realm of its activities which also encompass the use of artificial intelligence to identify prohibited contractual terms, online marketing practices (including influencer marketing) and the transparency of advertising labeling.

Additionally, the focus extends to dark patterns, which encompass unfair strategies that exploit consumer behavior to manipulate their decision-making process, UOKiK stated.

Established in 1992, ICPEN serves as a platform for the exchange of information regarding cross-border market practices. It boasts a membership of consumer protection institutions from over 70 countries worldwide.
