Polish retail sales 2.8% up y/y in October: stats office

Retail sales in Poland went up by 2.8 percent in October at constant prices compared with the same month a year earlier, the country’s statistics office reported on Wednesday.

Sales of fuels shot up by 16.7 percent last month in year-on-year terms, and those of motor vehicles rose by 12.3 percent, the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.

Meanwhile, sales of food, beverages and tobacco products inched down by 0.8 percent, while those of furniture, household appliances and consumer electronics dropped 10.9 percent, according to Statistics Poland.

In terms of current prices, retail sales last month were 4.8 percent higher than in October 2022, Statistics Poland said.

In month-on-month terms, retail sales in October were 3.2 percent higher than in September, the statistics office also reported.
