Presenting the Presidential Business Awards at a ceremony in the southeast of the country on Thursday, Duda said the winners were "setting an example of excellence" and "a model for others to follow.”

He told the gathering that Poland was a strong economy with a pool of talented people and that the prizewinners were "coping brilliantly in challenging times" against "strong headwinds."

"I have no doubt that Poland's success story is largely due to its entrepreneurs," Duda said at the awards ceremony in the southeastern town of Łańcut.

"Thank you for your contribution and for promoting our country internationally," he added, addressing the award recipients.

The awards were presented in a number of categories, including Leading Small and Medium-Sized Business, National Success, International Success, Responsible Business, Best Polish Start-up, and Research and Development.

The winners included companies such as Creotech Instruments, Cognor Holding, Integer.pl, and Unibep, Poland's PAP news agency reported.

Meanwhile, Bogdan Chmielewski, head of the US-based Polish & Slavic Federal Credit Union, the largest Polish financial institution overseas, walked away with a special individual award during the ceremony at the Łańcut Castle Museum on Thursday.

The president also presented a special award to Poland's eastern Lubelskie region for what officials said was its special commitment to developing the Polish-led Three Seas Initiative of European countries between the Baltic, Black and Adriatic Seas.
