The operation saw investigators confiscate 3.8 tonnes of a drug called clephedrone and 20 tons of chemicals used to produce narcotics, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported on Friday.

Three suspects have been detained during the crackdown, which included the use of an armoured police vehicle and Black Hawk and Bell helicopters, law enforcers said.

Prosecutors have charged the suspects with being part of an organised criminal group and also accused them of illegal manufacture of "significant amounts of illegal substances," reporters were told.

The suspects face up to 20 years in prison if found guilty of the charges, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

The crackdown, led by officers from Poland's Central Bureau of Police Investigation (CBŚP), resulted in the seizure of narcotics with a total street value of around PLN 61 million (EUR 14 million, USD 15 million), officials said.
