The reading was in line with an earlieestimate by the labour ministry.

There were around 776,600 people without jobs across the nation at the end of May, compared with 797,100 a month earlier, according to the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) office.

The statistics agency reported earlier this month that employment in Polish companies decreased by 0.5 percent in May on average in year-on-year terms.

According to the European Union’s Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, unemployment in Poland was a modest 3 percent in April, marking the second-lowest rate in the 27-nation bloc.
