The new service, launched on Sunday, significantly reduces travel time between the capital and the eastern city by eliminating all stops along the route. The "Sprinter" is part of a pilot project by PKP Intercity aimed at providing a faster alternative to road travel.

The journey between Warsaw and Białystok typically takes around 2 hours and 8 minutes by car, according to Google Maps, but the new train service shortens this to just over an hour and a half.

Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Piotr Malepszak announced that another "Sprinter" is expected to be operational before the end of the year, with plans to make the 180-kilometer route a competitive alternative to driving via the S8 highway.

The train will run every hour on the popular route, which serves approximately 1 million passengers annually.
