Polish government approves minimum wage hike

Poland’s government has approved a final proposal to increase the country’s minimum wage to PLN 4,666 (EUR 1,085, USD 1,196) a month from January next year, according to reports on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the minimum hourly rate will go up to PLN 30.50 (EUR 7.10, USD 7.80) effective January 1, 2025, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

It said the proposed figures are higher than initially planned.

In June, the government proposed increasing the minimum monthly wage to PLN 4,626 and the minimum hourly rate to PLN 30.50 from January next year.

The country’s minimum monthly wage rose to PLN 4,300 at the start of July, from PLN 4,242 in the first six months of 2024.

Meanwhile, the minimum hourly rate in Poland is currently set at PLN 28.10, up from PLN 27.70 in the first half of this year.

The average gross Polish monthly wage in July was PLN 8,278.63 (EUR 1,933, USD 2,150), the state-run statistics office (GUS) announced last month.
