The European Commission has given Poland an informal consent to grant public aid, partially supporting the Intel factory construction near the southeastern city of Wrocław. It was the last possible significant stumbling block on the way to start this huge undertaking.

The planned public aid for that goal, spread over the years 2024 - 2026, is to amount to 1.75 billion Euro.

Poland's Deputy Prime Minister and Digital Affairs Minister, Krzysztof Gawkowski, underlined that Intel's investment will be the largest in Poland in decades.

"The European Commission has informed Poland that it has given the green light for the state aid notification for Intel. This is an important step that we have been waiting for over the last few months. We have been lobbying for it in Brussels. Due to this development - Intel's semiconductor factory in Poland is getting closer to completion. This investment will significantly strengthen the economy and the country's security."

- Krzysztof Gawkowski said.

The next steps are to prepare and submit an official notification to the European Commission - and to start the procedure in Poland's Council of Ministers. The country's deputy Digital Affairs Minister, Dariusz Standerski, informed that the entire process will be completed by the end of the year.

"The path to start the official notification of public aid is open. The notification, at the request of the Digital Affairs Minister, will be made by the Competition and Consumer Protection Office's President. In parallel, works on obtaining the Council of Ministers' consent resolution will be launched, to officially grant public aid to Intel."

- Dariusz Standerski added.

Following the formal confirmation of the notification by the European Commission, it will be possible to sign an agreement with Intel. The entire investment is to cost around 6 billion Euro.
