Officers from the Podkarpackie National Tax Administration discovered the money during a luggage inspection, according to Edyta Chabowska, spokeswoman for the Tax Administration Chamber in Rzeszów.

"The Ukrainian citizen declared she was carrying 20,000 euros," Chabowska told the Polish Press Agency. "However, during a detailed inspection, it turned out the woman was transporting a much larger amount—over 355,000 euros and 46,000 US dollars. This amounts to approximately 1.7 million [Polish] zlotys."

The cash was concealed in a commercial bag within her luggage, Chabowska said. Criminal fiscal proceedings have been initiated against the traveler, and authorities secured PLN 50,000 as a guarantee against potential penalties.

Since the beginning of the year, customs and fiscal officers have detected more than 130 cases of illegal transportation of cash across the Podkarpackie section of the Polish-Ukrainian border, involving various currencies with a total value exceeding EUR 2.6 million.
