Despite an overall slowdown in Polish trade, shipments to Ukraine surged to EUR 11.4 billion in 2023, up from EUR 6.3 billion in 2021. Officials say this is partly driven by demand for fuels, vehicles, and defense-related goods.
Imports from Ukraine have risen more modestly, hitting EUR 6 billion in 2022 before falling to EUR 4.2 billion in 2023. Still, Ukraine’s share of Poland’s total exports reached 3.6% in 2024’s first three quarters, up from 2.1% before the invasion.
The government is banking on closer ties—especially as Ukraine edges toward EU membership—and sees infrastructure projects, including logistics hubs like Rzeszów, as critical to supporting Ukraine’s postwar rebuilding.
The Polish Development Fund (PFR) recently made its first investment in Ukraine’s IT sector, backing the consolidation of five tech companies under Euvic Group. Officials expect such moves to give Polish firms an edge in Ukraine’s future reconstruction.
