Patient fatally stabs Polish paramedic during emergency response

A 57-year-old man, under the influence of alcohol, fatally stabbed a 64-year-old paramedic and injured a 28-year-old colleague who tried to assist him.

The tragic event occurred on Saturday in Siedlce, a town located about 100 kilometers east of Warsaw, in central Poland.

The paramedic, injured by the patient, later died after being transported to the hospital.

The attacker is currently hospitalized and under police supervision. He will be questioned once his health permits, according to medical experts.

Healthcare workers across Poland honor victim with sirens

The prosecutor's office has launched a murder investigation, and the attacker remains in the hospital under police guard. In the wake of the tragedy, the medical community has called for stronger measures to improve safety and protection for healthcare workers.

The Polish Ministry of Health stated that the tragic death of the paramedic in Siedlce is a blow to everyone, expressing their deepest condolences to the victim's family.

They condemned the violence against those saving lives and pledged to strengthen legal protections for medical workers, intensify efforts to prosecute perpetrators of violence, and launch social campaigns promoting respect for healthcare professionals.

On Monday, at 5:00 PM, paramedics across Poland will honor the deceased by activating ambulance sirens nationwide.
