Fewer bankruptcies in Poland last year: stats office

A total of 391 companies declared bankruptcy in Poland last year, a decrease of 3.2 percent from 2023, the country’s statistics office has said.

In the last quarter of the year, 95 companies went under, 3 percent fewer than in the same period of 2023, according to the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency.

Meanwhile, 82,029 new companies were registered nationwide in the final three months of 2024, down by 7.3 percent from the fourth quarter of 2023, Statistics Poland reported.

The largest decrease in registrations was seen in the IT sector, industry and construction, it said.

In 2024 as a whole, 347,043 new companies were registered across the country, 3.5 percent fewer than in 2023, Statistics Poland reported.
