Earlier, Professor Balcerowicz shared on social media, citing data from The Economist, that Poland ranks among the highest in Europe for budget deficit.
In 2024, the deficit is projected to be 5.7% of GDP, significantly higher than the Eurozone average of 3.2%.
For comparison, Germany's deficit is 1.8%, the Czech Republic's is 2.4%, Denmark's is 2.1%, Sweden's is 1.2%, the Netherlands' is 0.7%, and Switzerland's is 0.7%.
Professor Leszek Balcerowicz is a former deputy prime minister, and one of the architects of Poland's post-communist economic reforms.
